Profile: Dennis Bartram
I have been teaching since 1995, when I formed the first Amatsu therapy teaching school in the United Kingdom. I am also the Principal Teacher, Researcher and currently the Chairman of the ATA. My teaching style is hands on, three-dimensional and movement orientated so as to focus on experiencing the ‘feel’ of the techniques. In addition I am also trained to recognise and work with individual learning styles. Having last taught Anma and Seitai in 2004 I have since been concentrating on writing and teaching Shinden Jutsu, Kenku Jutsu and Body movement classes.
I am currently the only ATA teacher authorized to provide Shinden (level 3 one to four) and Kenku training. I have now decided it is time to teach Anma again with my colleague Gill Scott in the eight2one school: www.eight2one.co.uk
In order to continue developing and consolidating Amatsu therapy I am now implementing a series of master tuition classes that will provide a pathway for our ATA senior practitioners (trained to Kenku level,) to evolve and develop their skills into the future.
I formed the first teaching of Amatsu in 1995, and registered with the BRCP in 1995. I have taught therapy in Ireland since 1986 and Amatsu Therapy since 1995. I teach Anma, Seitai, Shinden, Kenku levels and the Movement orientation of the art. I am registered with the British Register of Complementary Practitioners (BRCP) as a Senior Practitioner and Advisor, and I have been awarded a Fellowship to the ICNM
My clinical and teaching background includes:
The opening of the Active Balance clinic in 1974 offering sports injuries and manipulative therapy. I then expanded my repertoire of therapies to include Sacro-occipital Chiropractic (1980), Osteopathy (1984), Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP:1985), City and Guilds adult teaching certificate (1995).
Additionally, I have been studying Martial Arts since 1970 and Budo Taijutsu since 1985, under the tutorship of Dr Hatsumi. After studying and visiting Japan regularly for instruction and guidance, Dr. Hatsumi granted me Menkyo Kaiden (master teaching rights) in 1995. I am also a Jojudan 15thDan instructor of Budo.
