How will I learn Amatsu?

The course will run over two years and your study will be broken down into three main areas:

  • Practical and Theory Training
  • Anatomy Study
  • Practical Workshop

The balance of these three areas will give you the skills, the knowledge and the confidence required to become a confident and competent practitioner.

Each area of learning is of vital importance to you becoming an experienced Amatsu practitioner, but in the first year the bias of study will be towards practical training.

Initially you will be taught observation and listening skills to understand the story the body can tell us. With this resource your enthusiasm can grow into simple understanding of your Anatomical study.

Now you can learn the fascination skills of Anma, the scientific application of pressure on the body. This ancient approach to the soft tissues of the body is easy to apply and yield many benefits. These will include:

  • The Kinematic chain of the body
  • Observation and questioning
  • Muscle Testing
  • Palpation
  • Anma Massage and remedial massage techniques
  • Mobilisation of joints
  • Muscular re-patterning techniques
  • Inner core balancing and Proprioception

As you will need to know how to sell yourself so you can sell your skills you will also be instructed in practice building and client management.

The course is organised so that you will learn practical skills and the Amatsu theory during the training days. Directed study will then be given so you can understand what you can now do. This means that the study of the art of Amatsu is being supported by the science of Amatsu and is this is the link between Eastern philosophy and Western science.

QUALIFICATION:

In the first year you will concentrate on two main aspects. These are the skills needed to appraise clients along with Anma massage and mobilisation techniques to correct your findings. On completion of your first year and successful passing of the examination you can practice Anma massage.

The Amatsu Therapy Association and the Institute of Complementary Medicine ratify this qualification. Practitioners are insured through a scheme set up by the Institute of Complementary Medicine. You will be granted student insurance with the I.C.M. for the first year and this will be paid for from your deposit.

In the second year you will continue to study appraisal techniques, also study Seitai (Structural diagnosis and alignment techniques). After passing the final exams you will be fully qualified in Amatsu and will be able to join both governing bodies at the full level of Amatsu practitioner.

Your training has to meet criteria that are set by the Institute of Complementary Medicine and to that end the hours of training you need to complete are carefully logged. We have affiliated with the I.C.M. to improve professional recognition and gain support and advice in the ever-changing legal and political world.
